Founded in 1980 and run by Dick and Kathy Nessen, and Bobbi and Gerry Loney for nearly 30 years, Bridge has always valued community interaction and engagement, both internally and externally throughout rural Vermont and beyond. Bridge was designed to be a “laboratory in freedom and responsibility for both children and adults.” Bridge continues to offer teachers flexibility in what and how they teach and students a variety of choices for learning emphasizing, “real work done in the student’s real world.” (Quotes from founder’s strategic plan 1980.)
