We are currently hiring for: Afterschool Program Educator
Bridge School is a child-centered, state-approved, independent, K-6 school housed in a renovated dairy barn in Middlebury, Vermont. Teachers collaboratively create Bridge School’s hands-on, project-based curriculum, drawing on innovative pedagogy as well as state and national standards. Classes are taught in a multi-grade format to recognize children’s individual pace for learning. Bridge School’s educational philosophy is driven by four core values: Personal Excellence, Respect for Children, Engaged and Passionate Learners and Caring Community.
Bridge School is seeking an afterschool program teacher. Working from 2:45pm-6pm, this teacher serves as a vital influence in students’ social emotional growth. An ideal candidate has a passion for creativity and for helping students see themselves as empowered individuals.
-Teach and supervise students from 2:45pm-6pm
-Small group enrichment activity teacher
-Compliance with Vermont Licensing Regulations for Afterschool Child Care Programs regulations
-Professional approach to working with children and families
-Responsible for providing a safe, healthy, and positive school culture and environment
-Use of positive methods of behavior management guidance that meet the individual needs of each child and encourage self-control, self-direction, self-esteem and cooperation
-Evaluate the educational process of students in collaboration with all teachers
-Cooperate with local governmental, civic, and professional groups when appropriate.
-Report directly to the Afterschool Child Care Program Administrator and the school Co-Directors
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
-At least twenty-one years of age
-A minimum of a High School Diploma, Bachelor’s’ Degree preferred
-2-3 years of professional, relevant experience as teacher, coach, arts educator or camp counselor
-Obtain CPR / First Aid certification before November 2017
-Familiarity with Responsive Classroom teaching concepts or other behavior management strategies.
-Devotion to child-centered education.
