Sam was born in Washington D.C., but was lucky enough to grow up in Middlebury where she fell in love with dance at Spotlight Vermont. She spent her teen years teaching dance classes, where she discovered that she loved working with children. After graduating from MUHS she pursued a Bachelor’s degree at Hampshire College. During her time at Hampshire she worked in the Early Learning Center on campus and continued teaching dance classes. After her second year at Hampshire she travelled to Amman, Jordan to teach a series of movement workshops at Al Badr Deen Physical Therapy Center. She then chose to spend her final year in school back in Vermont with her husband, Aidan, where she wrote her thesis about the obstacles that young Vermont artists face living in rural areas, focusing particularly on the White River Valley. Sam and Aidan chose to return to Addison County where they now live with their son, three cats and two dogs.
